The Hunter African Communities Council (HACC) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to the development of individual and community well-being of Australians of African origin in Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
Our main focus is in successful settlement and integration through advocacy in education, employment, capacity building and cross-cultural communication. We also assist in a range of cross-cultural services, celebrating the inclusion of Africa’s culture and people in Australian society.
Working With our community
Our organisation is advised by various community leaders and service providers recognised for their interest and commitment to African community issues and development. Our executive committee comprises of six talented people who work closely with our public and private stakeholders to create innovative programs that develop social capital.
We also work in close partnership with the Northern Settlement Services, a large reputable organisation assisting in the settlement of various migrant communities. We’re passionate about upholding our high standard of community inclusion and celebration of culture and heritage.
Who we are
The HACC is an inclusive not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the needs of Australians of African origin in Hamilton and the Hunter region of NSW. We’re a development-oriented non-governmental organisation committed to celebrating African heritage while responding to the needs of members.
Established as a not-for-profit in 2007, our founders had the aim of creating a credible, inclusive and professionally governed organisation that advocates for Australians of African origin.
