African support services in the Hunter
The HACC is committed to providing reliable and effective support services to Australians of African decent and migrants. We’re passionate about celebrating diversity and the traditional culture of African people while encouraging integration and participation in Australian society. We help families, groups and individuals of African background reach their full potential.
Referral and support services
We provide a wide range of comprehensive support services. With the aim of inclusion, integration and celebration of African culture and people, our committed team works with the local community and wider stakeholders. Our services include:
Education and employment/referral
We support clients to become productive members of the community through education and employment. We help you develop the skills and attitude essential to a successful career in the Australian workforce. Using our strong professional relationships, we help you find opportunities and build a successful career.
We’re actively involved in creating programs to empower African Australians in partnership with community organisations and government agencies in the Hunter region.
We broadcast an ongoing weekly radio program in different African languages (Swahili, Creole, Dinka and Arabic) to migrant audiences through Newcastle’s 2NUR FM station in collaboration with the Northern Settlement Services. As the program develops, it can be used as a tool that both the host and migrant communities use to promote integration and participation. We also use this platform for media relations, important news and upcoming events.
